Del Mar and its History
On the Pacific Ocean's shore in San Diego County, California, is the beach community of Del Mar. The city, which had its beginnings as a coastal resort in 1885, was established in 1959. Every summer, the Del Mar racetrack plays home to the Del Mar Horse Races . The Torrey pine tree only grows naturally in Del Mar and other places. The Torrey pine is the least common pine in the country; there are just two populations left on Del Mar and Santa Rosa Island.
